PERFORMANCE INFO
What is the performance this year? This year, the format of our Fall performance will be a little different! We will be doing a concert style show (rather than a production with a story line) of longer dances choreographed by some of our instructors. This is a one night only event that will be paired with a Spring Production Reveal After Party where we announce the theme for our Spring Production this year!
When is the performance? Date of the event will be either Saturday, November 9 or Sunday, November 10 (TBD) at the Calumet Theatre.
When are rehearsals? All rehearsals for this performance will take place outside of regular classes, typically on the weekends. Rehearsal schedules are made based on dancer availability.
Who can participate? Dancers in any Level 2 and up technique classes are eligible to audition. Everyone who auditions WILL be cast in at least one dance.
Do we need to buy costumes or pay any fees? A production fee of $45 is required to participate, but all costumes will be loaned by SSOD, or some dancers may be asked to use clothing they already own.

6:40-7 - Ballet Levels 4+
7-7:20 - Modern Levels 4+
7:20-7:40 - Jazz Levels 4+
7:40-8 - Hip Hop Levels 4+
Dancers can attend just the portions of the audition they qualify for or are interested in.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time to audition? YES! Dancers need to register for the audition in advance, no later than Wednesday, September 4. Click here to register for auditions.
What do I need to do at the audition? As you can see, the time slots are very short. Dancers will be learning a short piece of choreography as a group VERY QUICKLY at the audition, then performing it in small groups. Dancers do not need to come with anything prepared in advance, but you must make sure to arrive early in order to check in, properly warm up on your own, and be ready to start ON TIME. Dancers arriving late to their time slot will not be permitted to jump in once that audition has already begun.
What should I wear? Since many dancers may be auditioning for more than one style, we know there is not enough time to change clothing between time slots. Wearing form fitting dance clothing with hair neatly secured off the face and just changing your shoes is fine for all sections of the audition. Dancers who are en pointe may use pointe shoes for their ballet audition if they wish.
