CLASSROOM RULES

  • Parents are not allowed in classrooms during class time, unless invited. Exceptions for Young Dancers who are feeling nervous may be made on a case by case basis.

  • Be on time! If dancers are more than 15 minutes late for class, they may be asked to sit out and observe class or take notes. This is for safety reasons as dancers who have not properly warmed up and participated in the full progression of class may be at risk of injury.

  • No talking in class unless you are asking/answering a question or it is during a break time. This can be a distraction to other students and also make it hard for any students participating on Zoom to hear the teacher.

  • No chewing gum in class.

  • Only water is allowed in the dance studios. Please, no food or liquids other than water as this can damage our dance floors.

  • No jewelry or watches (this includes smart watches) should be worn during class. Small earrings are allowed. This is for safety reasons as jewelry can be distracting or even injure dancers during class.

  • Leave your phone on silent in your bag during class and do not check it unless you have asked the instructor for permission.

  • Bathroom breaks should be taken before class begins, unless there is an emergency.

  • Do not touch the barres, tumbling mats, or any other equipment unless you are specifically supposed to be using it.

  • DO NOT touch the mirrors.

DANCER ETIQUETTE

  • Show respect and support for your classmates, instructors, and teaching assistants during class.

  • Do not sit down during class unless you need to fix your shoe, it is a break time, or your teacher tells you to sit. We are working on building stamina and focus; staying standing helps with that!

  • If you are unable to fully participate in class due to illness, injury, or arriving late to class, we still encourage you to attend either in person or via Zoom! Dancers can still learn a lot just by watching and listening during class. Your teacher may have you take notes, give feedback and observations to the class, or offer modifications and/or supplementary exercises for you to work on.

  • If you do miss class for any reason, we HIGHLY recommend emailing the studio to request the Zoom recording of class so that you can catch up on what you missed before you return. This makes it much easier for dancers to stay up to speed and jump right back into class with minimal disruption.
