Make sure to bring quiet and non-messy activities (to keep your dancer occupied while they wait to rehearse).
Important Reminders:
Attendance: All students are required to be at Production Week rehearsals. Failure to attend ALL required rehearsals (without permission granted in advance) may result in dancers not being permitted to perform in the show.
Be Prepared: Make sure you come to rehearsals with costumes, tights, shoes, accessories and miscellaneous items that you’ll need each night. (See: What to Bring and Detailed Schedule for reference on what to bring and when you need them).
Hair/Makeup:
Classes have designated hairstyles assigned by their instructor. Please reference the Shoes/Tights/Hair Guide for each class requirement. Hair, hair accessories and makeup are required for Dress Rehearsal (Friday) and Performances (Saturday and Sunday). Reference the Makeup Template for requirements. All hair pieces and hats for costumes should be secured with bobby pins.
During Rehearsals:
Dancers should group together by class and remain in the audience until their rehearsal time. Quiet and non-messy activities are recommended to keep dancers occupied while waiting, especially our younger dancers.
Dancers in multiple dances can change in the dressing rooms backstage but should return to the audience area once ready.
Dancers are discouraged from running around and exploring the Rosza Center. We understand that these nights can be long, but aside from using the bathroom, eating or taking movement breaks in the lobby, please stay in the theatre. We want to ensure our dancers’ safety and avoid disrupting rehearsals to search for missing dancers.
Dancers are welcome to watch rehearsals Tuesday-Thursday, but must be backstage for the Dress Rehearsal on Friday as they will be practicing entrances as if it’s the real show.
Food/Eating: ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD SHOULD BE EATEN IN COSTUME. Only water is permitted. Dancers must wear a robe or cover-up to protect costumes, if they must eat. There is no eating in the main audience area of the theatre or in the dressing rooms. Please take food to the designated food areas which are the main lobby of the Rosza or in the hallway outside the dressing rooms.
Photos:
Individual and class photos will be taken on Tuesday and Wednesday before classes rehearse dances. Staff will assist dancers backstage to have photos taken. Photo packages must be purchased in advance if you want individual photos. Group photos may still be available for purchase through the photographer’s online store at a later date.
Clean Up:
Do not leave items in dressing rooms Tuesday-Thursday. All costumes and personal belongings should be taken home each night.
PLEASE, look around when you arrive, the way the theater, backstage, and dressing room looks, is how it should look each night when we leave. Please don’t make our staff and volunteers stay late to clean up after everyone!
